Organizational structure of the State Fire Service
The National Headquarters of the State Fire Service (KG PSP) is placed on the top of the organizational structure of the State Fire Service of Poland, consisting of the National Headquarters of the State Fire Service, 16 Regional Headquarters of the State Fire Service, 353 District (Municipal) Headquarters of the State Fire Service and 501 fire and rescue (operational) units.
The system of the Polish State Fire Service embraces the network of fire service schools educating country’s firefighters: The Main School of Fire Service (SGSP) in Warsaw, Warrant Officers Schools in Częstochowa (CS PSP), Kraków (SA PSP Kraków) and Poznań (SA PSP Poznań) and Non-Commissioned Officers School of the State Fire Service in Bydgoszcz (SP PSP).
Basic firefighting course is provided in regional training centers (supervised by Regional Headquarters of the State Fire Service) and in selected fire service schools. Firefighters who have completed a basic training course can continue their education in Warrant Officers Schools. The Main School of Fire Service (SGSP) in Warsaw is the only technical university in Poland educating fire service officers, fire safety and civil safety engineers. Training centers of the State Fire Service in addition offer professional courses and trainings in the field of specialized rescue, fire and civil protection. The structure of the State Fire Service comprises also the Scientific and Research Centre for Fire Protection (CNBOP-PIB) situated in Józefów near Warsaw. The Centre is responsible for R&D activities, testing, certification and validation of the equipment used in the State Fire Service, technical fire protection systems, as well as the expertise concerning fire protection systems, including design and installation.
Another organizational unit of the State Fire Service is the Central Museum of Fire Service (CMP), locating in Mysłowice (Silesia Region).
